Greenpoint, Brooklyn. My good friend James just recently moved to this little neighborhood in the lovely boro of Brooklyn.
I've visited him quite a few times already. Now, I've been to Greenpoint before many years ago but... I've never hung out there with James. Things can get silly when him and I are joined up, and it's even better in a place that we can truly absorb.
So we met up at his new place. He has a great balcony at the footsteps of his bed with a constant and cooling breeze that surprisingly does not pick up the odors of the East River. We BS'd for a bit and the hit the streets with our bikes to do some exploring (and drink sampling) in GP and Williamsburg.
Some of his balcony decorations:
So we Rode along Franklin and down towards BillBurg on Kent ave and hit up some of the parks along the river.
Who knew BK had a beach?!
Then we hit the first bar of which the name escapes me but I have been there before a few times. We had a beer, relaxed and then got bored and left. OH, I took a few photos.
The next bar had outdoor seating which was great. There was nobody else around in this place so it was nice to stretch out and relax. It was a beautiful Friday afternoon with a good friend and some beers... Life is grand... Sitting there on the sidewalk I was in people watch mode and It's great to see the eclectic mix of people in BK. You really do not see a concentration of hip, creative people anywhere else like you do in NYC. So many different styles and trends, not only in clothing but also architecture, bicycles, motorcycles...etc...
We decided we needed a bite. We unlocked our bikes and headed back to his place, he was gonna cook.
Before I got on the bike I took a picture of this:
Talk about a premonition......
We hit a farmer's market by the park on the way back. He picked up some big ass radishes for his culinary creation among some other produce. Went back to his place and the cooking began. Awesome day so far as always..
After the food I went out for another bike ride and took some more photos here and there. Then, to spare all the details, I hit a pothole and fell off my bike. I ended up dislocating my ankle and fracturing my Fibula. Sucks dude!! I won't be able to get around for six weeks!! I'm gonna go crazy not being able to ride!! ARRRGGHH!!
ok...I'm calm now. For some of you who may read this and know a little bit 'bout me, ya'll know I'm pretty mellow. I'm actually taking this well and I'll be healed and make my triumphant return in no time. Until then I'll just keep staring at my bike....
